This ornate gilded lead star is thought to have been used to decorate an interior wall or ceiling.
This ornate gilded lead star is thought to have been used to decorate an interior wall or ceiling and shows some of the stunning and vibrant colours used at the height of the abbey’s wealth and influence in the 14th Century. Small fixing holes can still be seen in the Lady Chapel, where it is thought that either these or similar ornaments may have hung.
